If I file bankruptcy, will they come to my house and look at everything?
No. “They” typically means Trustees. Trustees are attorneys who represent the creditors. They do not come to your home. It is not common practice, but they may ask to see a claimed asset or ask for pictures. You must comply with their request.
Is there somewhere safe where I can store my will?
Yes. In fact, in Minnesota, you can safely store a copy of your will with the probate court or court administrator’s office in your county. This is typically done free of charge or for a nominal fee. Be sure to tell someone close to you that this is where you have chosen to store your will. Also, don’t forget to replace your will with an updated copy anytime you make changes.
